Why You Should Start Blogging And I Should Stop
This is a weird post perhaps. But since I’m known for turning stuff around I think I can get away with it.
I’d like to share a thought I have on blogs in general. Blogs you find all over the web. The ones you stubble upon after you’ve done a search in Google.
I honestly think that large blogs should tone it down on the blogging and new people should start. Why? Let me explain…
We look everything up on the web nowadays and we hardly search for a paper dictionary anymore. Google is just too easy, with Wikipedia in its wake. And I agree on this, its great! But as the internet starts to establish itself more and more as a widely accepted commodity for personal knowledge I’m having doubts about the variety of its sources.
Blogs Past And Present
At the beginning of the 21st century hundreds of thousands of people started to write their own blog. Back then it was cool and hip when you wrote a blog and in an extend it still is. After a few months however most bloggers lost interest and only the die hard remained. Those die hards grew fast and expanded their blog by using guest writers who eventually got on the payroll. These blogs have become the large authority blogs you stumble upon now when you do a search on Google.
The Credible Insiders
I’d love to see more variation in my search results. I’d like to read posts from experts in their field, especially the ones who work an analog job. The ‘analog world people’ hardly blog! I currently find posts from bloggers who sit behind a computer screen almost all day (like me). These people did some research and wrote a blog post about some analog topic. That’s not what I want to read. I want the credible insider, the passionate expert. Where are they?
Start Blogging For The Cause
If you are one of those people, who loves to read blogs but never writes. Please consider blogging about your expertise. I’d love to read your posts. Hell, I would even consider to quit writing posts to be able to read yours. That said, the main goals behind this thought is that the internet would be enriched with unique content we so miss right now. The digital age is irreversible and every adult and child will be on the net for knowledge in a few decades. So get up, and start your blog now if you haven’t done so yet! Write one post a month or so, thats fine. You don’t need to be a journalist who pumps out articles like crazy. A few a year will do. I would be forever grateful!
